1 INT. FORTRESS ROOM - NIGHT
Large Panel: This huge room does not have beds, simply a large number of mats, placed in perfect rows and columns covering the entire wood floor. Every mat has a ninja, sword and head wrapping placed just to the side, sleeping on it.
Only one mat varies- the one in the center of the frame that holds Grip. He sits up, holding his charred head wrapping in his hands and looking at it.
NARRATION
The Hand so completely dominates my every thought that I don’t remember life before it.
NARRATION
Was I ever a child? Did I have a mother and father?
NARRATION
Or was I born into this world an instrument of The Hand?
2 EXT. FORTRESS COURTYARD - DAY
This shot from a distance- the courtyard is full of hundreds of identical ninja in full gear (including head wrapping) going through training exercises.
In the center of the panel is a group of dozens in orderly rows who practice sword moves in perfect synchronicity.
These next half-dozen panels are going to be a zoom in to an individual, so even though we need this shot from above to get the whole scene, frame it from a low enough angle so that when we have zoomed in to him we can see his face fairly well. If you could have all these panels similar height and width that would be cool, too.
3 FORTRESS COURTYARD - CONTINUOUS
Similar shot, but zoomed in a little closer on the sword practitioners.
NARRATION
Wolves can sense when there is something off about a member of their pack.
To be honest, I pictured this first frame a lot closer in on Grip, so the reader immediately noticed this one guy sitting up at night thinking while all around him the others were asleep. Normally, I wouldn't want to put narration boxes right smack in the middle of the page over the main part of the image, but I was trying to frame Grip to remind the reader that these were his thoughts. I'm not sure it was the right decision.
On the positive side, these other panels are just what I wanted and convey the sense I was going for perfectly. |
