PAGE FIVE

1 CITY STREET - CONTINUOUS

The four ninjas simultaneously plunge their swords into the base of the Giant Man’s neck.

NARRATION
No words need be exchanged.

2 CITY STREET - CONTINUOUS

The ninjas leap off the Giant Man as his lifeless body drops to the ground, taking their bloody swords with them. They jump in different directions, Grip toward the camera so we can keep track of him.

3 CITY STREET - CONTINUOUS

This frame dominated by the Speedster who has a look of terror on his face. He is running through the crowd of ninjas, leaving a streak behind him. The ninjas can only turn their heads too late and watch him go, he is too fast for them.

NARRATION
The Speedster panics, the terror forcing him to abandon his allies and flee.

4 CITY STREET - CONTINUOUS

Grip goes down on one knee and sticks both arms straight out in front of him, his hands turned so that his sword sticks out to one side of his body.

NARRATION
His tactical sense obliterated by emotion he becomes predictable, an easy target.

5 CITY STREET - CONTINUOUS

Grip is in the exact same position as last panel and we see him from the exact same camera angle. Only this time, the Speedster has run right into his sword lengthwise, which being belt level slices straight through his gut.

NARRATION
Our sword prevents his escape.

 

 

 

I don't know if other writers feel this way, but one of my favorite things is when you get the pages back from the artist and you realize that a panel is stronger without dialogue or narration than it is with it.

I hate putting word balloons over good art anyway, and when it's great art like the stuff Sean is doing here, it kills you to have to do it.

So, it was with great pleasure that I decided not to put in the narration that I had written for the first panel on this page.

I mean, come on, would you have wanted to cover-up any part of that drawing? Me neither.
